We’ll explore connections between the current Cougar Mountain Park and this recent addition. We’ll explore old farm roads, faint trails and maybe even a little off-trail. The exact route and distance will be dependent on weather and “trail” conditions. North East Cougar Loop Hike, Moderate, 7 mile, 1400 ft gain, Good Trails, Moderate Pace, Ralph Owen

Our hike will begin at Harvey Manning Park and initially walk through the recently acquired Bergsma Property park land. We’ll then continue uphill on good trails to one of the Anti-Aircraft Peak covered shelters for our lunch stop. On our downhill return we will walk part of the Military Road ~ Issaquah’s original “super-highway”. This one-lane wagon road connected Issaquah to Newcastle and the train from there to Seattle. Mother's Day

Visit the site of one of the current land-use actions on Cougar Mountain that will affect hikers. Hike part of the Licorice Fern Trail before exploring part of the King County's recently purchased DeLeo Farm property. Visit the Big Cedar, the bike-a-drome and other highlights. We will be walking on a combination of good King County Park trails, paved streets, old farm roads, motor bike paths and easy off-trail segments.
