There was much reminiscing at the Depot last Saturday as we looked back on 40 years of club history.

On May 19, 1979, the first formal meeting of the IATC was held in the Issaquah Sportsmen’s Clubhouse.

The recent announcement of the expanded Metro Trailhead Direct service in 2019 brings to mind past notions on the accessibility of our nearby “wilderness” via metro bus service.

Lots of yummy food was shared at the annual club potluck, but the star of the show was a special 40th Anniversary cake.

The annual membership meeting of the IATC was held in the warm ambiance of the Issaquah Depot last Thursday evening. The accomplishments of 2018 were reviewed, and the goals for 2019 presented. And pizza was enjoyed by all.

We few, we happy few, we band of IATC hikers set out on that first Mountains to Sound March twenty-nine years ago, armed with nothing more than a vision of what the Greenway could be.   That vision, sparked by the little-club-that-could, soon blossomed into the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, and now the vision is further validated by the designation of the Greenway as a “National Heritage Area,” the first NHA in the northwest.

Today is International Women’s Day, a good time to honor one of our local heroes: Ruth Kees.  She was a tireless environmental activist and champion of sustainable practices. 

Tuesday, February 19, was "Hiker Rally Day" in Olympia, and your club was represented in the Washington Trail Association contingent.

The third annual Land Conservation Panel Discussion was held Thursday evening in the historic Pickering Barn, and a good time was had by all.

We love our urban trails, too, so we are excited to get the south end of the East Lake Sammamish trail back online after a closure of nearly 2 years!
