Join Green Issaquah and the Issaquah Alps Trails Club on a Tree Rescue mission! There is a stand of several hundred 2-3 foot tall Douglas Fir trees under the Bonneville Power lines at Black Nugget Park that are scheduled to be cut down for saftely reasons in May and we need your help to save them. What better way to celebrate Earth Month than by rescuing trees!
Our goal is to rehome as many of these beautiful, strong, young conifers as we can. Volunteers will be digging up and repotting trees so that we can redistribute them at the Issaquah Sustainability Fair on April 26th. Volunteers are also welcome to take some firs home for themselves if they have a place to plant them.
This stand of young Douglas Firs is located in Black Nugget Park, map above.

What to Bring
Bring your own gloves if you have them. There will be gloves available for those who don't have their own. Please dress in layers and in clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Closed-toed shoes, long sleeves, and pants are recommended. Bring a full water bottle, warm drink, and snacks. Don't forget to bring your rain gear if rain is in the forecast.
The ground is rocky in some areas, so if you happen to own a pickaxe and know how to safely use it, please bring it along. If you have extra 1-3 gallon-sized buckets or planters you are willing to donate to the cause, those will also be helpful in our repotting process.
