PNW Nature Understanding Hike on Cougar Mountain

Join IATC’s Svet Semov on this hike on the De Leo Wall trail featuring some of the highest density of conifers in Cougar Mountain. We’ll move at a moderate pace occasionally stopping to:

  • identify local trees and plants like Douglas fir, Western redcedar, Bigleaf maple, Oregon grape, salal etc.

  • talk about the impacts of climate change on local nature.

  • discuss recent IATC work in conservation and education.

Trailhead: De Leo Wall; 8524 146th Pl SE, Newcastle, WA 98059 (there is street parking along this residential community)
Trails: De Leo Wall to Indian Trail
Distance: 2.4 miles
Duration: 1.5 hours
Elevation Gain: ~600 ft.
