Trail Construction on Tiger Mtn. with WTA - Exclusively for IATC

  • Tiger Mountain Summit trailhead (map)

Join this IATC-exclusive event and the Washington Trails Association (WTA) for trail work on Tiger Mtn. The plan is to work on trails within last fall’s harvest area on West Tiger. But weather or road conditions can alter this plan, with work on a reroute of the Middle Tiger trail or maintenance work on trails lower on the mountain as backups. WTA is planning many trail work party days on Tiger Mtn. over the coming months and the more people from IATC who get involved, the better chance that we can get more of our own exclusive days on WTA’s calendar.

Registration via the WTA website is required.

Why the Middle Tiger Trail? Middle Tiger summit lies within the Tiger Mtn. State Forest, which is managed by WA DNR and is subject to timber harvests. The area around Middle Tiger will be harvested in 2023. During this operation the Middle Tiger Trail from the summit north (and down hill) to road 4500 (which is a spur off the main Tiger Mtn. Road) will be disturbed and not rebuilt as it exists today. Instead, and all-new segment will connect the east side of the summit all the way to the main Tiger Mtn. Road, thus eliminating the need to use road 4500 to attain the summit. This trail work project will run for many months before it is completed.
