Licorice Fern Hike #1 - Moderate, 6 miles, 870 ft elevation gain, Denice Carnahan

Licorice Fern Hike 6 miles and 870 foot elevation gain. This hike is on the South side of Cougar Mountain.  We will be walking along a canyon near “Licorice Fern Wall” - a vertical rock formation, similar to the DeLeo Wall, on our way to the DeLeo Wall Viewpoint.  On a nice day, the views from the viewpoint are some of the best on Cougar Mountain.  On our way back from the DeLeo Wall Viewpoint we may take a side trip to the Far Country Falls and/or the Far Country Lookout.  Bring a snack for a short stop.

10:00 AM Meet on 169th Ave SE just after turning left off of SE 112th St.  The nearest address is 11118 169th Ave SE, Renton, WA 98059.  You will see a trail sign showing the way to Licorice Fern Trail.
