Get to know your candidates for Public Lands Commissioner!

The upcoming primary election is crucial to the future of our public lands in Washington! There are currently seven (7) candidates running for Public Lands Commissioner, a lesser-known statewide position that has huge implications for DNR lands statewide, including Tiger Mountain.

 
 

The Public Lands Commissioner oversees the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), which manages 6 million acres of public land statewide. The Public Lands Commissioner also oversees the state’s wildland firefighting force. The results of this election will have implications for recreation, conservation, and wildfires on our public lands.

IATC recently sent a candidate questionnaire to all seven candidates running for Public Lands Commissioner. Three of the candidates responded to our detailed questions. Learn more about them by clicking the button below.

Finally, make sure to vote in the primary! The results of the primary will dictate which two candidates advance to the general election in November.

  • August 6: Primary Election Day - Deposit your ballot in an official drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
